Borne Up by Angels

I sat there in my car stunned and amazed that I was okay. I had just been hit by a tractor trailer while driving on interstate 81. My door wouldn’t open, so I crawled out of the passenger-side door. As I walked around the car and looked at the damage, I was amazed that I was uninjured. The trunk was almost completely smashed in. The front on the driver’s side was banged up, and the windshield was shattered. My car had hit the guardrail so hard that about 20 feet of it had been pulled out of the ground and thrown into the ditch. As I looked at my twisted car, I was filled with a sense of thankfulness and awe at how God had protected me! It reminded me of how much He loves me.

My computer was crushed in the trunk, but that was the only valuable thing in the car that was destroyed. Just the day before, I had been transporting the new ultrasound machine for our Palawan clinic in the trunk, but I had moved it to the back seat, and it was undamaged. I was so thankful! I was also very thankful that my violin was spared.

I could have been seriously injured, but instead God protected not only me but also the ultrasound machine and my violin! “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Ps. 91:11-12).
