Charles

Charles is not a student missionary as such, but he is a student in the school of Christ, and also a missionary. He approached us a couple years ago wanting to learn how to be an evangelist. He has been attending our Monday training course ever since and is a star student.

After about a year of learning, he said he felt ready to go out and do evangelism. He had already been giving Bible studies to a few people for a while, and he accompanied Hyacinthe two days a week to visit various villages, but he still had more time on his hands. I told him to go door to door and find more people who wanted to study the Bible with him. He didn’t really like that idea, but since I was paying him for his work, we had a prayer together, and he went out. I continued to pray for him that the Lord would see fit to give him blessed experiences on that first day. God responded beautifully! Charles came back encouraged, having found somebody to study with. Within a few days, Charles had so many people committed to study the Bible with him that his evenings and weekends were full! Within a week or two, Charles was so eager to go out and meet with people that I struggled to keep him in the office for other work. When he had filled all his available Bible study slots, he started going out on the streets at other times just to talk with people about God and the Bible. He has had a number of blessed encounters, which I will share with you in future articles.
