First Love

Babies are so precious! We met a newborn babe last week—a newborn in Christ! Baptized just three months ago, she is already working for Jesus as the cradle roll teacher for her church. While we visited with her over a meal, Sonya shared with her that she had been a Bible worker and assisted with an evangelistic series. “What is it like to be a Bible worker? And what is an evangelistic series?” our friend asked. After Sonya filled in the details, our friend exclaimed, “We need to have and evangelist series here!” Immediately she started thinking about what would be a suitable location. I was so impressed by her enthusiasm and eager desire to serve God! (She also had responded to the call during the sermon, wishing to receive more information about going as a missionary.)

Jesus wants us all to have this type of living, vibrant experience with Him! “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove they candlestick out of his place, except thou repent” (Rev. 2:4, 5). At the beginning of a new year, what an amazing opportunity to heed these words from Jesus!

We are so thankful that God has called us to the Philippines to help point the Palawano to Jesus who will give them a new abundant life. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Please pray for us as, by God’s Grace, we work in earnest to learn the Tagalog language so we can better communicate with these precious people.
