From Rejection to Respect

Moses was baptized last year and has a passion for sharing Jesus with his people. Wondering what it will be like for others who make a decision to follow Jesus, we asked him, “How does your village treat you now that you follow Jesus?”

“I think they don’t hate me too much anymore,” he replied. “But at first it was very difficult. Some people wouldn’t talk to me. Some people who heard I follow Jesus didn’t want to see my face.”

“What happened to change their minds?”

“When they had sick family members, I would visit them. Sometimes I called you to come, and you would help, too. Pretty soon, people began calling for me when family members were sick. Sometimes people who knew my father would ask if I was really his son. They would say, ‘I can’t believe he had a son as good as you.’ My kindness and efforts to help them changed the way they look at me.”

It was inspiring to hear Moses tell about how he went from being an outcast for Jesus to being respected for the change Jesus made in his life. It reminds us that the most powerful testimony is that of a Christ-changed heart. Moses affirmed that working with people and their needs speaks louder than any sermon we can preach.

Please continue to pray for the Great River team as we work together to share Christ’s love with hungry souls.
