God Provides

Indeed, we have a God who provides signs and wonders (Heb. 2:4)! We started our application process with AFM in February 2004 and had our in-home interview in Africa with Dana Clark and the Unglaub family. During the interview, Dana told us we would have to attend an orientation week at the AFM office in Michigan. Because of the difficulties of getting U.S. visas, he said there was a good chance we wouldn’t both get one. I remember telling Dana that, if God wanted us to be frontier missionaries with AFM, He would allow both Elmire and me to attend.

In February 2005, we went to the U.S. embassy for our visas, and in just five minutes, we were both granted 10-year B1/B2 visas with multiple entries—a miracle! In our country, U.S. visas are typically granted for one to three years. Ten-year visas are practically unheard of.

God had even more signs and wonders in store for us. We were asked to get R visas in order to come to the States for training and fundraising. In February 2006, we again went to the U.S. embassy. After more that 30 minutes of discussion and explanation, the officer asked us to come back in the afternoon so he could have time to call Washington. At the end of our second appointment, he told us we would be granted R1/R2 visas for three years if we could show that we had been with AFM for at least two years. Praise God, He had foreseen this need and led us to apply with AFM almost exactly two years before!

We are very grateful to the Lord for all His providence in our life. We also thank all our committed prayer partners, and faithful donors. Many blessings!
