Lifting Our Burdens

A church family and the fellowship of worshiping friends are gifts from heaven.

We were stressed about preparing our home for renting while we sorted and packed our belongings and completed our transition to Michigan for AFM training. We had so much to do in such a short time. Thankfully, we had numerous church friends come to our rescue. Several friends from our young-adult group came to help us paint, clean and pack. Even someone we had never met before took time out of their day to help us. Some of our donors showed up in their painting clothes, ready to help. Meanwhile, another dear family opened their guest room to us so we could sleep on a real bed away from the chaos. With them, we were able to enjoy uplifting conversation over home-cooked meals. On our last night fixing up the house, another generous family showed us Jesus by staying late into the night, diligently working to help us meet our deadline. Momma Moss, as we call her, even brought delicious food and paper plates so we wouldn’t go hungry while we worked.

Without these helpers, we would have struggled to finish and most certainly would have felt alone. Instead, we felt so loved and cared for! This Christ-like help and hospitality showed us the irreplaceable value of having a community of people who take your burdens and come together to help you succeed.

“Contribute to the needs of the saints, and seek to show hospitality” (Rom. 12:13 ESV). Thank you to our church family for demonstrating Jesus’ love to us!
