Our New Home

It is once again time to say goodbye. By the time you read this, I will be back in the Philippines. Instead of driving, I’ll be walking everywhere I want to go. I’ll be hot and sweaty instead of cold. I’ll be trying to apply the things we have been learning in training instead of thinking about how to apply them. I’ll be using an outhouse instead of a western bathroom. I’ll be living in a bamboo hut instead of a carpeted room. I’ll be sitting on the floor during church instead of on padded pews. And I’ll be washing my clothes by hand instead of throwing them in a washing machine. Being in the States these past six months has been like living in another world. I know how to live in both my Palawan world and my American world, though they are very different. But one day soon we will get to live in another world, a perfect world where we will never have to say goodbye again. John 14:3 says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” In this new home there will be no barriers of culture or language, and we will all live together for eternity. Please pray that there will be many, many Palawano people there!
