Patience

“Are we there yet?” “Are we almost there? It’s taking forever!” “How much farther?” These are some of the questions my brother and I would ask as children while enduring long car trips. My father’s answer would come back to us from the front seat, “We will get there sooner than you think, but longer than you wish.”

We have reached a similar waiting period in the process of launching to Papua New Guinea. We are waiting for our work permit to be approved and our visas to be issued. While waiting, we are attempting to make the best use of our time, yet it is easy to feel impatient.

Recently I have been contemplating Hebrews 12:1 where we are told to “run with patience the race that is set before us.” The word translated “patience” means “a cheerful or hopeful endurance.” Yes, we are eagerly looking forward to launching to Papua New Guinea, and we are not becoming disheartened or discouraged. Please join us in praying that we will receive our work permit and visas in God’s perfect timing.
