The Long Labor

Jeanne was pregnant with her third child and was getting bigger by the day. One Sabbath, she didn’t come to church, so when the ladies got together in the afternoon for the women’s ministry, we prayed for her and then went to visit her.

When we arrived at Jeanne’s house we found her lying on a mat outside feeling nauseous and having contractions, though her due date was still a month away. She said she had been feeling this way since the previous Sunday. She had gone to the hospital, but the baby’s head was not pointed down. On Thursday they had told her to go back home. I asked her if her water had broken, and she said it had. That worried me. We all told her she needed to go back to the hospital. We had a sense that there was some evil trying to keep that child from being born, so we all prayed that God would cause this child to be delivered without complications, and that Satan would be rebuked.

The next day in the hospital, Jeanne gave birth to a big, healthy baby boy. We praised God. The following week we went as a group to greet the baby and pray for him and his mother.
