The Rainy Season

“Could you please buy my chicken?” pleaded our Fulani friend. “We do not have any food left at the house. Manioc was growing well in my fields, but someone stole it all. All my other chickens were stolen, too. This is the only one left. Please buy it!”

Toussaint bought the chicken and also gave our friend some millet, going straight to the mill to grind it so the family could have some porridge that night.

One of our foster boys came to find me in my office. “Auntie, Isabelle has a headache. Could you please check on her?” I went outside, where the little girl was sitting on a bench. I touched her forehead, and sure enough, she had a fever. I went to get our box of Malaria quick tests, and in less than two minutes, two bright red lines confirmed that she had Malaria. I gave her some medicine and called her older sister on the phone to explain how she should give it to her.

It is the peak of the rainy season, a time when food is scarce and sickness is rampant. We praise God and thank our donors that we can help. Please pray that we will always do so wisely and that we will always point our friends to the One who provides for our needs and heals our sicknesses.
