The Telephone Call

I’m not sure if we had even said amen before the answer came with the startling ring of the telephone! I had a taste of what Elijah must have felt when the fire flashed down from heaven like lightening in answer to his prayer. “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isa. 65:24) This is what God did for us through our beloved Jesus.

It was a Friday, and we had been praying about our finances. We needed to travel from Tennessee to Iowa and Nebraska to share about reaching the unreached Palawano tribe. However, with extra car expenses, our account would be overdrawn if we turned in our tithe and offering the next day at church. But we had Someone to turn to—Someone who always hears our prayers. Someone who cares! The phone call brought us news that He had miraculously provided the funds we needed, and it was with great joy that we turned in our tithe and offering that Sabbath!

The Palawano have Someone to turn to as well, but many have no knowledge of Him. God is longing to answer them. Hear the cry of God’s heart spoken to those looking for help in the wrong place: “Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Isa. 45:22). We long to be used by the Holy Spirit to tell Palawano people that the answer to their deepest questions is Jesus. Will you help make this possible with a monthly gift to the Palawano Project?
