Too Great A Distance?

Many worries went through my head when my husband came home proposing we become missionaries.

Where would we go? What would it be like? What would we do? Are we capable?

My greatest concern was the distance we would be from our family.

My children are small and would grow up far from their grandparents and uncles — and their older sister, who was attending college and working in Brazil.

These questions tugged on my heart, and doubts always came to my mind. Should we really accept this mission? Would it be worth it? Were we doing what God wanted?
I decided to pray about Paulo’s suggestion and put myself entirely in God’s hands to learn what He wanted for us.

During my morning devotional, I read Matthew 19:29: “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

That was the answer to my prayers, bringing me peace and certainty that we were on the right path.

If these same questions are weighing on your heart, I invite you to also meditate on Matthew 19:29.

I am sure God will provide the answers you need.
