If God Is For Me . . .

God’s divine appointments are always followed by a trail of blessings we could have never imagined.

Najaswak’s journey started several years ago while sailing. Admiring the grand artwork of our Lord’s creation, she suddenly heard the voice in her mind, “If God is for me, who can be against me?” Najaswak decided to accept Jesus into her life.

Several months later, she came across Romans 8:31, a verse in the Bible that she had never heard of before: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Najaswak remembered the voice that had spoken the same words to her and immediately believed that the Bible was true.

She has since suffered the loss of her husband; however, she continues her faith journey.

When we first met Najaswak, we were participating in the weekly breakfast feeding program for the homeless, where she shared the Word of God with her people in their language. Over the past six months, Najaswak has not only become our language helper, inviting us to her home once a week to learn Greenlandic, but also our great friend and culture teacher.

Born and raised in Greenland over seventy years ago, Najaswak shares with us the proverbs, sayings and meanings of the names of towns and villages. She has shared insights with us about plants in Greenland and invited us on her family’s boat to visit the fjord. Because of her love for us, Najaswak also invited us aboard a mission sailing boat, where we prayed, sang and befriended Greenlanders in 25 settlements.

Najaswak has also invited us to her art class, taught us acrylic painting and introduced us to several Greenlanders. She has asked us to sing at kaffemiks (meaning ‘via coffee’), traditional Greenlandic social gatherings, and, recently, at one of the local churches in town. Najaswak also asked us to join her at her son’s home, where we prayed with him for healing. Recently, we have been entrusted with the care of her home and pets while she and her family travel.

What a great friendship we have with this lovely lady, who loves us so much and keeps saying to us, “I thank God so much that He brought you to Greenland.”

Najaswak has asked us questions regarding the Sabbath and the state of the dead. Recently, at our home during a group Bible study on Sabbath, Najaswak prayed, thanking the Lord for the Sabbath day. During a trip together, somebody alluded to a dead relative being like an angel watching, and as soon as Najaswak heard that, she responded, “That’s not true. The Bible says the dead know nothing. They cannot be our angels. The dead do not know anything.” And then she gently left the conversation for her next errand.

Please continue to pray for Najaswak and for us. We know that God is working to win souls to His kingdom.
