If You Give God a Challenge

Do miracles still happen today? Sometimes as we travel through life it’s tempting to look around and think that miracles only happened in the Bible and that God doesn’t work that way anymore. Are you a believer or not? Do you believe in miracles? Have you seen God working in your life in a direct way? Those who know me well, know that I have a small streak of crazy running through me. Not much. I haven’t done anything really crazy, but I’m the person in our family most likely to throw a party unexpectedly at the last minute or drive clear out of my way for something that I didn’t absolutely need but lent to the emotional happiness of my family. I’m known by my kids as the fun mom which, not coincidentally, makes me a good candidate for mission service since, in the hopefully not too distant future, I’ll be moving my children halfway around the world. A little crazy and a sense of humor can go a long way in a situation like that. So, all of this to say, that when we were accepted by AFM and I learned that we had about 3 months to raise an impossible amount of money, I took a look around the world, decided that Jesus is coming very soon and people don’t have time to wait and decided to believe that God would do a miracle. You know what? He has. And how! We are getting close to the deadline, which is at the end of March, but we’re also getting close to the amount of money that we needed to raise by that date in order to get to the summer training this year so we don’t have to wait an additional year to launch. Sometimes I think we ask too little of God. But whether or not that’s true, I do know that He has done a miracle for us. And I believe that He’ll continue to work and we’ll complete the fundraising necessary in order to make the goal. God is so good!
