Kouagou

Kouagou grew up in an animistic home with some Catholic influence. His father, though he was a fetish priest, understood the evilness and slavery of fetish worship, so he forbade his children to have anything to do with fetishes.

Kouagou’s father died in 2012, and Kouagou came under demonic harassment that disturbed him mentally. Paranoia drove him from his home. His uncle took him to see a traditional healer, but the healer couldn’t help him. One day, Kouagou escaped into the bush with a knife and tried to cut his own throat. He couldn’t bring himself to do serious damage, so he went to the hospital and got stitched up. About a week later, he tried again unsuccessfully to commit suicide.

We started a major prayer session for Kouagou. I prayed for him about every hour. His mother tried and get him to come home, but he refused, fearing the taxi driver would kill him. We had special prayer that he would get into the taxi, and the next morning his mom was able to bring him home. Kouagou was in bad shape with self-inflicted wounds, so she took him to the hospital for more stitches.

The next day was Sabbath. After church, I went to Kouagou’s house and visited with him. I asked him if he wanted to follow Jesus’ path or the fetish path. He said he wanted Jesus’ path. I invited him to come to my house and see a two videos from Amazing Facts—Final Events and The Origin of Evil. He came and watched them.

The next day, I called two men and a woman from the church who have experience dealing with demonic harassment. Together, we sat with Kouagou and listened to his story. Then we read some Bible verses and prayed. Following our lead, Kouagou accepted Jesus into his life and asked Him to break the chains holding him to Satan. I wrote down a number of verses for him and read about salvation and the power of God over Satan.

On Tuesday morning, Kouagou came over to have his wound cleaned. I saw that it was infected, so I applied a hot water/bleach compress and then cleaned it up and bandaged it. As I worked, we had some time to talk about some disturbing dreams Kouagou was having from demonic harassment. The next morning, he came back to my house looking much happier and more alive. He applied the hot compresses himself this time, and I did laundry. Then I cleaned the wound again and bandaged it.

Kouagou had all kinds of questions about Christianity. I answered a few but told him we couldn’t study all of them at one time. I gave him the simple plan of salvation and an overview of the Bible so he would know where to read to find more answers. Kouagou was like a new young man. It was wonderful to see God healing him from satanic oppression. In the market, I got him a set of clothes. The following Sabbath, he went to church. His wounds are now healed with little scarring, and we continue to do Bible studies.

Please keep Kouagou in your prayers that God will continue to protect and guide him.
