“Good morning sir! Are you the missionary?”

“Yes I am,” I responded on my phone with some hesitation.

“My name is Siakeze, and I would like to meet you.” We agreed on a rendezvous. Siakeze told me that for the past few days he had been desperately looking for one of our lay workers who witnessed to him several months ago. Recent events in his life had reminded him about some of the truth the lay worker had shared with him, and he was eager to ask more questions. He said he was now ready to obey God’s will and live accordingly.

As I praised God for how He had been working in Siakeze’s life through the Holy Spirit, I explained to Siakeze that the lay worker was not in town at the moment, but that I would be happy to study the Bible with him and try to answer his questions.

We had our first study that very day. Afterward, Siakeze decided he wanted to study with me every day. As we met each day at the Faith Dialogue Center, Siakeze excitedly welcomed all the teachings and was eager to live by them and share them with others.

We didn’t realize it at first, but God sent our church a wonderful gift of musical talent in Siakeze. He is well known in town for training young people how to play guitar, drum, piano and other instruments. As we rejoice today for Siakeze’s musical input in our worship services, we thank you, our prayer partners, donors and friends, for your support which made it possible for us to purchase some musical instruments for our group.

For the past three months, Siakeze has been coming to our prayer center regularly. Often, he is the first to arrive. He is now preparing for baptism.

Please pray for Siakeze’s extended family. He is praying for opportunities to share his new faith with his family and village. His uncle who raised him is an evangelical pastor, and the news of his new faith is already bringing signs of opposition.
