I had had no time to react . . . but the accident didn’t happen!
About 11 years ago as I was living in Littleton, Colorado, I was getting ready for work one morning when my mother called and asked me to stop by her house on the way and help her. As she was only two miles away, I finished getting ready, left home a little earlier and headed to her house.
I had one four-lane road to cross between my house and hers. It was still dark outside as I approached the intersection. The light was red, and I stopped. When the light turned green, I started forward and had not proceeded very far into the intersection when suddenly, out of the corner of my left eye, I saw something darker than the night right beside me and braced myself for impact. In that split second, I could not make out what kind of a vehicle it was, but it did not have any lights on. A moment later, I glanced again in that direction, but it was no longer there. Looking into the rearview mirror I saw it pass behind me.
I had had no time to react. I had not pushed the gas pedal any harder nor hit the brake pedal. I believe that my guardian angel either pushed my car forward or pushed the other vehicle sideways so it would go behind my car and not hit me.
I have recently been thinking about that morning and considering why I was not hit. I can only believe that God still had plans for me to do something for Him. It may have been as simple as the fact that my mother needed me. It may have been that He wanted me to move to Michigan and join the AFM Team, or there may still be something special He has planned for me. I probably will not know until I get to heaven. I have decided that it is time for me to re-dedicate my life to Him and let Him lead me where He wants me to go.
What about you? What is God’s plan for your life? Is He asking you to become an AFM missionary or support a current or future AFM missionary with your finances and prayers? Open your heart and let Him lead.
