My first years of employment were with businesses that had no part in spreading the gospel. However, five years ago, God blessed me with the opportunity to work for AFM and to assist our missionaries at their projects.
As the mailroom clerk, I have the privilege of sending out missionary newsletters. It is exciting to be one of the first to read these project updates, and I feel privileged.
Stories of what the missionary children are doing always catch my attention. Many of these children are missionaries themselves and not just the children of missionaries. They have accepted the call to serve God right along with their parents and are stepping up to do their part in reaching the unreached.
These children are learning the local language and culture. They are making friends with the local children and witnessing to them. They even witness to the adults they encounter.
If you have felt that God is calling you to mission work but are hesitant because you are not sure about taking your children to another country, prayerfully consider the call that may be on your child’s heart, and ask them to pray with you for God’s leading. You might find that God has called your entire family to missions, not just you. They may be ready to answer the call and say, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8).
As a missionary child in central Africa, I enjoyed my years of service with my family. While I did not feel God’s call to return to overseas missions as an adult, I have accepted His call to support the frontline work.
You may not feel God calling you to frontline mission service, but God has called all of us to be part of hastening His soon return. Please prayerfully consider what God is calling you to do to support those on the frontlines.
Jesus commanded, “Go ye into ALL the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15, emphasis mine). There are still so many areas that have not been reached. World developments show that time is running short. The need is urgent, and the workers are still so few. Please pray that God will impress upon your heart what He would have you do to hasten His soon return.
