Your Next Career Change

Do you feel satisfied in your current job? Have you considered changing careers, but an uncertain future holds you back? Staying with the familiar, no matter how dissatisfying, often seems more comfortable and secure than stepping out into the unknown. These feelings and concerns are common. You are not alone! The average person changes careers five to seven times, holding 10 or more jobs, before retiring.1

As you consider making a change, you will likely ponder what you will do next and where. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the workforce has been dramatically affected. It might not take you long to find a different position. However, I would like to challenge you to consider another list of job openings probably not on your radar (see “Top 5 Career Mission Opportunities” in the right column).

Worldwide there are still three billion people unreached by the gospel, many of whom will not be reached unless someone goes to where they are and ministers to them. Missionaries are needed! AFM seeks godly, committed Christian men and women willing to leave their current occupations to enter the missionary profession to reach the unreached. What will you decide?

God frequently calls people from secular positions to labor for Him. Scripture contains many examples: fishermen, shepherds, tentmakers, a tax collector, and a student of religious law. Even Jesus was a carpenter before being anointed into His public ministry.

Over the last 30 years, AFM has helped scores of people make the change to a career as a foreign missionary to the unreached. We will help you identify where your unique skills can impact the mission field. We will also provide the tools and training to build a support team and minister effectively in a cross-cultural context. As we empower you to become an effective worker in the gospel vineyard, you can have confidence, knowing you will go to the field prepared to successfully execute your task. Will you answer the call?

“As the gospel is proclaimed in its purity, men will be called from the plow and from the common commercial business vocations that largely occupy the mind and will be educated in connection with men of experience. As they learn to labor effectively, they will proclaim the truth with power” (Prophets and Kings p. 223).
