Several years ago, I was driving home from an alumni event and decided to take the scenic route. It was pretty late, and I noticed a woman in a short-sleeve shirt walking out in the cold. I am not in the habit of picking up women walking along the road, but she seemed to be in difficulty, so I stopped and asked if she needed a ride. She climbed in and began frantically telling me about a drug crime she had witnessed that night and how her daughter was in a scary place with a man she didn’t trust. I prayed with her and encouraged her to put her trust in God.
Two years later, I was driving that way again and stopped to help a woman with a flat tire. I noticed she looked familiar, and I asked her if she had been picked up by someone on this road two years earlier. Her eyes widened as she turned to look at me. “It’s you!” she said with wonder. “Are you an angel?”
I laughed. “No ma’am, but I can see that God is really looking out for you. He must want you to know how much He values you and wants to take care of you!” After finding out that I was Adventist, she exclaimed, “A friend just gave me some Adventist material, and I am going to check them out now!”
Friends, God cares for every person, no matter where they are in life. My thoughts turn to the unreached in Cambodia. God sees them and longs to bring them His peace, and we are excited to be His messengers.
