Our project has a hole in it! An important piece of our team is missing, and we notice it daily.
Suzy Baldwin is on furlough, and we feel her absence. While she is seeking to raise funding in America, we are realizing how much she does here, and how much gets left undone when she is gone.
The lives of our family have been marked with illness ever since we arrived in Natitingou. Hardly a week has gone by without one or more of us having some sort of ailment. Until recently, we were able to give Suzy a quick call or talk with her when we would see her several times each week, and get her medical advice. Suzy is a walking encyclopedia of African sicknesses and treatments and often gives better advice than local doctors. Her services cost less, too!
The church also feels her absence. I recently heard one of Suzy’s “kids” give a testimony about how hungry he was, and how the Lord helped him find food. When Suzy is there, this boy goes to her house and finds plenty to eat any time of day. Suzy has fed and assisted dozens of people through the years, and a whole group of people miss her when she is gone. Many people around Natitingou know they can depend on Suzy for help when they are in need.
Suzy lives very simply so that she can give more to others. She spends a lot of time giving counsel, medical advice, and simple medical treatments to many different people. A horde of young people call her “Mama,” and she fits the mother role well.
As I write this, Suzy is still on furlough, seeking to raise funds for her return to Benin continued ministry here. Would you be willing to pray and ask the Lord if He would like you to join her support team and help her return to Benin? Our project has a hole in it, and we need Suzy back as soon as possible!
