Adela’s Memory Verse

dela, my youngest daughter, started school for the first time this past April. We appreciate that the school gives her memory verses to learn. Lina, my oldest, has been setting the verses to music to help the children remember them. The following memory verse really hit home for me.

“Control yourselves and be careful! The devil is your enemy, and he goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to attack and eat. Refuse to follow the devil. Stand strong in your faith. You know that your brothers and sisters all over the world are having the same sufferings that you have” (1 Peter 5:8-9 ERV).

We are all called to share the good news, the message of Jesus our Savior, to a world that doesn’t know what to do when the roaring lion attacks them. Our neighbors, coworkers, fellow students, family, friends and people on the other side of the world do not have the tools and knowledge they need to stand strong. We need to share with the hopeless, the ones that have been numb and are just in survival mode, that the roaring lion doesn’t have to devour them. We need to give them hope and introduce them to Jesus, our loving Savior.

I think of the people surrounding me and the roaring lion devouring them. I also see the importance of controlling myself. Many times, we do not actively share Jesus because our fears control us, and we think, What if they get mad or offended? There are instances when we do not control our time as we should, and we find ourselves busy pursuing the world. However, we need to stand strong in our faith by surrendering to Jesus daily, asking Him to work in and through us, and reading and listening to God’s Word.

Please continue to pray with us for Thailand, particularly the Isan area, the largest part of Northeast Thailand.
