All Your Needs

Philippines 4:19. How many times have we read or heard this wonderful promise? “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” As a kid growing up in a single-parent home, I was raised on this promise. I remember many times my mother telling me that although we were poor in the world’s eyes, I had a Heavenly Father who would supply all our needs. I saw vividly, time and again, this promise fulfilled in our lives, from receiving the free gift of a car to finding bags of groceries sitting on our doorstep, to kind men from church who took me under their wings and mentored me.

Recently I was rereading the book of Philippians and was intrigued with the context in which this promise is found. At this point in Paul’s ministry, no church had entered into partnership with him to support his work except for the church of Philippi. And as a result of their generosity, his needs were well supplied. Then Paul pens this remarkable promise of God’s providence: “But my God shall supply all your need . . .” The promise was addressed to those who sacrificially supported Paul in his mission endeavor.

This made me think of the hundreds of people who have sacrificially given to support the Gogodala Project and make it a reality. We have been so blessed and encouraged by the outpouring of love, prayers, financial support and well-wishes that we have received. Thank you for being our church of Philippi! For our support team and everyone who supports AFM’s worthy projects, our prayer is that as you give, our God will supply all of your needs.
