Angelii’s Shepherd

Angelii is a Thai lady in Buriram who has recently been hosting one of our small group meetings on Wednesdays and Sabbaths. Her faith and love for Jesus is contagious! To support herself, she sells coffee and fruit drinks, which bring in a very modest income.

Last month, Angelii wanted to change shop locations and take over her sister’s coffee shop. But to do so, she needed 10,000 baht. Lacking the money, she prayed and asked God to help her. On the very last day before she needed to make the move, someone offered her 30,000 baht to take over her current business location! She praised God for not only providing what she asked, but for giving her three times as much.

A couple months later, in her new, more expensive location, Angelii found herself without enough money to pay her shop rent and electric bill. Again she prayed, “Dear Lord, could I please have a little help with my rent and electric bill?” Soon after that, her landlord came to visit her and told her he had decided to let her stay the next two months free of rent. Praise God!

Later, when the electric meter reader came by, he found that Angelii’s meter hadn’t moved since he had last read it “Did you tamper with your meter?” he asked suspiciously.

“No, I didn’t,” Angelii affirmed.

“Did you use any electricity last month?” he asked.

“Of course I did, just like normal,” Angelii said honestly.

“Then why has your meter not moved at all?” asked the meter reader in disbelief.

“I don’t know,” she replied.

“Well, then what am I supposed to charge you?”

“Nothing?” Angelii suggested, half-jokingly.

After a moment’s thought, he said, “Well, okay, just forget about this month. We will just say that, officially, you used no electricity last month.” Then he walked away, shaking his head.

Can you imagine Angelii’s joy as she laughed and prayed and praised God? “Thank You, dear God, for helping me! But you know, Lord, I didn’t mean that I didn’t want to pay anything for my electric bill. I just asked for a little help!”

Just another testimony I heard firsthand from a widow who can now identify with David who said, “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. . . . My cup runs over!”
