Have you ever wanted to go to the mission field and participate in the daily lives of AFM missionaries? Perhaps the mission field is closer than you think.
A few weeks ago, I woke up earlier than normal with Daha and Dayita Sharma, AFM missionaries to the Kullu Pahari in India, on my heart. They are good friends of ours, and I often think of them, but this was a distinct impression that wouldn’t go away. I wasn’t able to fall asleep again, so after some time I realized I should pray for them. I can be a little slow in my thinking, especially at 2:30 in the morning!
As I started to pray for our friends, I didn’t know what they were going through, but I felt I was being given extra power to pray for them with more intensity. I prayed for the spiritual battle they are fighting, claiming the promises of Jesus on their behalf and rebuking the devil and his plans for them. After a time of intense prayer, I felt peace and drifted off to sleep.
When I awoke a few hours later, I went downstairs to pray and read the Bible. As I was praying, once again I felt a strong impression that I should pray for Daha and Dayita, and once again I experienced unusual power as I did so.
This was such a new and unusual experience for me that I wrote them an e-mail soon after I was finished praying, telling them about what I had been through that morning. A few hours later, Dayita replied, saying she was the reason I had been woken that morning! They had been in a difficult situation, and she had prayed that God would wake somebody up to pray for them.
It is humbling and exciting to see how the Lord is using us in the mission field, even while we are still in Norway! Through your prayers for AFM missionaries, you can also enter the mission field and make a dramatic difference in somebody’s day, even today.
