“Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
We were intrigued to hear these words, spoken dramatically in Shqip by three separate individuals. Our group members were reading the book of Daniel at home, and then some of them recounted the stories to us in their own words during the week. We would then study each portion together as a group on Sabbath.
Most Americans reading this story in Daniel 6 for the first time might focus on the action or the miracle of Daniel being saved from the lions. But our Albanian friends focused more attention on the dialog between Darius and Daniel, which they recited with great emotion and accuracy.
Albanians are interested in the relationships between Bible characters and how these relationships reveal their true master. They easily pick out themes we don’t usually notice. At times it can be frustrating when they don’t seem to grasp the significance of our points. May the Holy Spirit help us see how He is leading them and help us join Him in that work.
We would love to share more with you while we are on furlough. Please join us if you are able.
