“Many thanks!” she said. “This group has shown much love from sincere hearts. We can see that you love our son and all of the disabled people in our city. Your hands and hearts are blessed,” the woman continued as she placed her hand over her heart for emphasis. She was of a different faith, but that did not seem to matter to her.

Over the years, our prayer fellowship and church members have enjoyed visiting the residents of a local facility for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. It is always a pleasure to visit with these precious people; their smiles are contagious. It is hard to know who enjoys these visits more, the residents or their visitors.

The highlight of the year is when, by God’s grace, we serve the residents and staff a special meal, often accompanied by a gift for each. In the past, we have distributed gift boxes donated through ADRA in the EU, winter boots donated by TOMS Shoes, warm winter hats, gloves, and scarves, and various other gifts purchased through project donations or our community service club. Many of you have played an essential part in this blessing through your selfless support.
In addition to the usual gifts and meals, the group decided to share a special treat with the facility residents this year — a change of scenery. We arranged for the residents, their families, facility staff and some community leaders to be our guests at the lovely community center afforded by your generous donations and the enthusiastic work of local Albanian Adventists.

The plan was a success. Previously, family members had been unable to attend these events due to a lack of space, but our new center accommodated everyone. Mutual joy lifted all our spirits and brought to mind the incomparable blessing that only comes with sharing whatever we have received, all for the glory of God.

“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:7-11).
