PING! I looked at the text from my best friend. “My Pastor just did a sermon on the Sabbath.”
My friend and I have known each other since the fifth grade when we met at a public school, but we have not seen each other since my wedding 15 years ago. Her text surprised me even more since she is a non-denominational Christian.
“That’s cool. How have you been?” I responded.
“I’m going to Alabama in January,” she replied.
“You’re kidding me! I’m going to Alabama for a speaking appointment in January.”
Lo and behold, we were in Alabama at the same time. Hanging out with her on her 40th birthday was a gift from God.
Two weeks later, she sent another text explaining that her father-in-law pastors a church, about one-and-a-half hours south of us. She said that he possibly wanted us to speak at his church.
A short while later, he called me. The first thing out of my mouth was, “You know we are Adventists, right?” He assured me that he knew all about us and wanted to meet and hear our story.
We met for lunch on Sabbath, and he invited us to speak at his church the next day. God was certainly present and leading that weekend. The entire church adopted us as their missionaries and gathered around our family to pray for us.
This church was not concerned about the denomination that separated us. They were more concerned with the God that aligned us and with expanding the body of Christ by spreading the gospel to the world. We are so thankful this body of believers not only joined our monthly support team, but have also dedicated time to pray for us regularly.
God has a plan for the people of Croatia, and it is awesome to see Him work
