“Hi Steve, this is Joe,” said the friendly voice of our shipping agent on the phone line. “I’m sorry to inform you that the ship had to leave two of your crates and three drums of fuel back at the wharf in Port Moresby. But I promise you that we will get them on the next ship.”
That wasn’t the only bad news. The company that is holding our prefabricated maintenance building at a different wharf forgot to load those seven bundles onto the ship as well.
We are blessed that river ships can come right to our back yard, literally, to unload when we have cargo coming from the city. That is especially handy now that we are bringing in building supplies for our Gogodala Training Center. With two of the usual ships out for repairs, though, our shipping options are limited to only one vessel. This one ship now has to serve the entire Balimo area. Cringing at the thought of having my freight delayed, I sent up a silent prayer. Lord it’s in Your hands.
The ship arrived this week with less than half the cargo I was expecting to receive. But God is merciful and knows what we can handle. The cargo that came is what we need most right now, and it was the right amount to unload for the small group who came to help.
Speaking of people coming to help, we need builders who are willing to work with us to get this training center up and operational.
