By Ways They Have Not Known

It was a cool fall day, and I was eating my lunch under the clock tower in the center of Union College’s campus. My Canadian blood keeps me outside far longer than most, so I was surprised when Michelle came by and asked, “May I eat with you?” All I knew about Michelle was that she was a junior nursing major, so I began asking her questions about where she was from and what area of nursing she was interested in. Then I mentioned that Janella and I had joined Adventist Frontier Missions and were planning to move to Thailand where we would be AFM field directors for Asia. Michelle became animated. “I have always wanted to go to Asia,” she said. “My parents are Hmong, and I grew up speaking Hmong. I want to go back and serve my people.” We talked about ways in which Michelle could join AFM and become a frontline missionary to unreached people groups. Before we parted, we had the privilege of praying together, affirming her vision for service.

God says in Isaiah 42:16, “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” In what ways is God leading you to share your love for Him? May you be blessed through serving others and enabling others to serve.
