Cookie Baking Class?

“You should start a baking or cookie class,” Elder Conrad said during morning worship while we were on furlough. At the time, we were sharing with the AFM staff some pictures of our lives in Thailand, and one of the things we have done a lot has been baking cookies.

Cookies and other baking have proved invaluable for meeting new friends and building friendships. Children love to come and bake with us. For many of our new friends In Thailand, baking cookies is a novelty. Yet, for my friends back home in America and me, baking cookies is part of who we are.

The idea of starting a cookie class is actually an excellent one. Parents in Thailand who have financial means love to take their children to all kinds of classes. So it is unsurprising that a few of my friends tell me it would be a hit if we started an after-school cookie-baking class. One friend has already asked me to teach her daughter English. When we were visiting another friend’s house and my daughter Lina was doing a craft with her children, this friend told me that she would love to be able to hire someone to teach her children.

Please pray for us. As you know, schedules can become filled with all types of activities, and often we can be so busy doing good things that we might miss out on doing the most important ones. If God wants us to do an after-school class (or one during a more structured time) for baking, crafts, or English lessons, then we are certainly open to it. Right now, we are just waiting for a clear direction.
