Countdown

The countdown is on! As a family, we are praying that this is the year we go to Ireland. We have been preparing and praying for this mission, and we believe that we will be there soon. God willing, it will be this year, but it is all in His timing.

The other day after worship, my five-year-old asked me, “Can we go to Ireland today?” It was so cute—you should have seen her face. My nine-year-old has turned in cards at church requesting prayer for Ireland. She turned in another one last Sabbath. My heart melts to see my children so committed to our family’s mission. Of course, they can’t really grasp what a 10-year commitment is.

How does a family come to the point of leaving their home country and starting over across an ocean? Well, it all started in my heart when I was a teenager and felt a clear call from God to be a missionary. After college, I was planning to go to the Marshall Islands for two years, but at the last minute God sent me to Florida—not quite what I’d had in mind. It was there in one of Teenie Finley’s evangelistic meetings that I met a handsome man who soon befriended me. Our friendship grew, and soon I shared with him that I was going to be an overseas missionary. It was important that he know this, because otherwise there was no point in letting our relationship progress. To my delight, he was totally open to it! Long story short, we married, and the Lord had us serve here in Florida, in Mount Dora and Tampa, and we also went on many short-term mission trips. Fourteen years later, the Lord is now taking us to Ireland.

We are very excited about what the Lord is doing to bring supporters like you to encourage and enable our ministry through your prayers and donations. Please continue to pray for our monthly support goal, which is our current focus. With the Lord’s strength, we can do it!
