Everyone wants to be successful. The question is, are we ready to be successful? Success begins when we take one bold step. Make that one step in your life, think about it and dream about it. Invest your whole being into that idea and drop all other ideas. That is the way to succeed, and it brings satisfaction.
Mr. Keiter is a polygamous father of 30 children. He is uneducated and a carpenter by profession. The Keiter clan was among the first settlers in our area, and they are the ruling family in Kangaba.
One day at sunset, I visited Mr. Keiter in his carpentry shop. To my surprise, I found him putting together a car. I forgot about my real purpose for visiting and began to talk about his creativity. I was fascinated by the design of his car. I asked him how he got the knowledge to build a car. He replied with two words: “Imagination, dedication.” I guess it’s true what Dieter F. Uchtdorf wrote: “The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.”
The Bible account of creation in Genesis 1:27 reads, “So God created mankind in his own image . . .” God obviously did not create us exactly like Himself. Instead, we are a reflection of His glory. Our ability to create, to love, to forgive, to be kind, patient and faithful is the image of God that we reflect. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Some may have the gift of speaking, writing, decision-making, critical thinking, healing or prophecy. Mr. Keiter has the gift of creativity. He buys motorcycle parts from the market and adapts them to make a smooth-running car. Can you imagine that? For the bodywork, he buys iron sheets and bends and welds them into the shape he wants.
I pray that some day Mr. Keiter will give his heart to God, the source of his creativity.
