As my motorcycle taxi weaved deftly between lanes of traffic, I eagerly anticipated the delicious lunch I would soon be enjoying at one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Bangkok. This may not be the safest way to travel, but it sure is the quickest, I thought to myself.

At the restaurant, I learned I would have to wait more than half an hour for my food, so I settled for some peanuts and chips instead at a nearby Seven-Eleven.

After arriving at the campus of the Thailand Adventist Mission where my vehicle was parked, I spotted Danny, and instantly I thanked God for delaying me so our paths would intersect.

Shortly before we moved from Bangkok to Chiangmai, I met Danny, a Thai-American, at a vespers program I spoke at. We talked for almost an hour afterwards. He told me he had learned about the Sabbath while doing research for his master’s degree. This prompted him to do more Bible study and eventually led to studies with a Filipino Adventist pastor. I could tell he was excited about the truths he had learned, but he seemed reluctant to take the next step and be baptized. After our move, I wasn’t able to meet with Danny, but I kept praying for him and wondering how he was doing.

It was great to meet Danny at the Mission campus. He told me he had been baptized only a week earlier! He then invited me to go with him to the local Adventist school cafeteria for lunch, and we were able to have a nice conversation. He told me the pastor had visited his family, and his father who had been antagonistic toward Christianity seemed to be opening up. He told me about the burden he has to reach his friends, many of whom have high levels of education and influence. Please pray for this young man as he grows in his witness and his walk with the Lord.
