For Thanksgiving break we visited family out of town. One day when our girls were playing with other kids at a local park, our oldest daughter decided to announce to our new playground friends that we were going to Ireland as missionaries. This started a conversation between Dylan and one of the other fathers. Dylan shared that we will be working at a center of influence where people could come for help with their marriages, finances, health, addictions and other things. He also told him about the high rates of suicide and excessive drinking in Ireland. At this point our new friend told Dylan that he was Irish, and his father had committed suicide. Dylan and I do not believe in coincidences. This was clearly a divine appointment.
What a powerful reminder it was for us that day at the playground. To hear and read about the needs of a country and to start preparing to go there and share Jesus’ message of love, hope and salvation is one thing. But to meet someone whose life has been torn by that brokenness is another thing entirely.
I thank God for that park experience, and I pray that Dylan’s conversation planted a gospel seed. I also thank God that He has called us to be ambassadors of a life-changing message. Please join us with your prayers and support as we prepare to reach out to the people of Ireland and guide them to new life in Christ. God is moving in a powerful way. Will you join us?
