Divine Appointment

Who is that? I said to myself as Edie and I passed a lady in Wal-Mart. Her face looked familiar, but we continued with our Friday afternoon shopping. We were visiting Siloam Springs Arkansas where I grew up. There are more than a thousand Adventists in the area.

Eyvonne, who was good friends with my sister, also had a flash of recognition as we passed. A voice prompted her to introduce herself if we met again, but she was unsure who I was. Minutes later we passed her again, and again she felt the prompting to talk with us. Oh Lord, she prayed, I should have said something to him. Please let me see him one more time. We met again in the far corner of the store. This time Eyvonne looked me closely and asked if I was Bev’s brother. As we talked, I mentioned that we would soon be missionaries to Papua New Guinea. To my amazement, she reached into her purse, pulled out cash, and told me she wanted to help send us to the Ama. Then she told me how God had been prompting her to speak with me. As we explained that we needed monthly contributions, she expressed her desire to give on a monthly basis. We were happy to give her an envelope. What a divine appointment!

Friends, this story illustrates how our God directs His children to help our brothers and sisters in nations around the world. The Gospel must be preached in every country before the end will come. Are we listening to His promptings?
