“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28).
I don’t usually think much of the dreams I’ve had. But, on rare occasions, I have awakened from a dream that has made a profound impression on me. Recently, I dreamed we were invited to an AFM banquet. The banquet location was a clearing in a dense, dark forest. We arrived five minutes before the event was to begin. Looking around, I squirmed with uneasiness at the sparse turnout. Only a few tables had anyone sitting at them; most were empty. The sun was setting. As darkness settled in, the only light came from glowing candles at the occupied tables. All other tables were dark. At the last minute, a large group of people came out of the dark forest and into the light to join us. These were obviously not seasoned church-goers, but they were glad to join the banquet.
This reminded me of the parable of the great supper found in Luke 14. We Christians have been invited to join God in His work. There are many groups of people in the world still living in the dark forest of fear for lack of knowledge about Christ. They need missionaries. If you have heard God calling you to the banquet of frontier-mission service, don’t wait to answer that call. Act now.
