Bony, our Adventist evangelist, returned home one day and went in to see his son, little Espoir, who had come down with malaria. Walking over to Espoir’s bed, he suddenly froze in shock. Espoir’s body was stiff; his hands and feet cold. His eyes were rolled back in his head, and he was not breathing. He was dead.
Bony’s anguished cry brought his wife Colette and his sister-in- law running into the house. Seeing little Espoir’s body, the sister-in-law started to wail. Colette, who was recovering from malaria and still weak, snatched up little Espoir’s body and ran with him into the courtyard. Cradling him, she fell to her knees and began crying out to God, “Oh God! Oh God!”
Hearing the wailing, villagers began to pour into the courtyard to find out the reason for the commotion. One look at little Espoir’s body, and they knew.
When Colette saw all the people gathering in her courtyard, she called out to God again: “God! Do you see all these people? Do something for Your sake!” Suddenly, Espoir started to move. He took a breath and opened his eyes. People began fleeing in terror. This boy who had been so obviously dead was alive again!
Praising God, Bony and Colette took Espoir to the clinic to be treated for malaria. Today he is a normal, happy little boy. His life is a testimony, and the village is still abuzz about the power of the God of the evangelist and his wife.
Pray for Bony and Colette as they work in this village to break down the ancient demonic strongholds by the power of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
