Nearly every day now, we see Mali mentioned on Internet news sources—usually for tragic reasons. It seems that the Al-Qaeda-linked Islamists currently holding the northern two thirds of the country desire at least part of the lower third that is left. We read these news stories, and we pray, pray, pray. We pray for the protection of the people there we know and love. We pray that they will have the chance to come to know Christ. We praise the Lord that, so far, our area of Mali has remained peaceful. We hope it remains so. According to what we have read and heard, if the Islamists do take over the rest of Mali, it will be almost impossible for the Malian people to learn more about Jesus. Mali will be under an oppressive Al-Qaeda-style fundamentalist regime.
Please join us in praying for the country of Mali. Currently, things don’t look very positive, but we know God sees the big picture, and He can turn it all around.
