Frustrated But Hopeful

My heart is burning right now! I’m excited! I’m frustrated! I feel inadequate! And at the same time, I’m hopeful! And I pray that you, reader, whoever you are, will be God’s solution to my frustration and fulfillment of my hope.

After graduating from AFM’s Summer Institute of Frontier Missions, Shannon and I are excited and eager to be used by God to carry His love and message of salvation to 1.3 million poor, desperate, and spiritually starving Northern Khmer people in Thailand.

I’m frustrated because I’ve learned that, depending on whom you ask, there are 10,000 to 11,000 unreached people groups (UPGs), also known as “kindreds, tongues, and peoples” (Rev. 14:6), in the world who must hear the everlasting gospel before Christ comes again! I want to see my Jesus!

Naturally, we feel inadequate to the task of evangelizing all these groups. If Shannon and I give our lives to reaching the world’s UPGs (something I greatly desire to do!), we could, by God’s infinite power and grace, reach perhaps four or five. But that’s just a scratch!

And yet I’m hopeful! For why shouldn’t a world church with 12 million members be able to send 3000+ frontier missionaries to the remaining UPGs in our world? Why can’t our churches team up to appoint and support them? And you, reader—why can’t you be one of them?

Our Commander in Chief, Jesus, has given the command (Matt. 28:18-20). Let’s stop hiding behind our assets, our debts, our children, our degrees or lack thereof, our comforts, and our fears! God will take care of us and ours (Isa. 42:6, 7) if we give all into His care and obey! Let’s pray today! Give today! Decide today to go! For the incredible love of God, whatever He tells us to do, let’s do it today!
