God is Our GPS

Today, September 10, we got good news! Our work visas have been issued from the Mozambique Embassy and are now in the mail to us! This will allow us to serve the Tonga people long-term.

We face a lot of unknowns. By the time you read this, we will be surrounded by thousands of people we don’t know and looking to rent a house we haven’t yet found in a community and culture that is completely foreign to us. We realize that where we end up living, the personal contacts we make, the friendships we nurture, the outreach we do, literally every choice we make going forward, impacts our mission success. We don’t know which community or household will respond to the gospel call. We aren’t yet sure which method of evangelism is best. We need God to guide us like a GPS unit.

During our initial launch to Mozambique in April, we arrived in the capital city of Maputo and rented a car. Driving was very difficult with all the crazy traffic. To our dismay, we found that most streets appeared to be unnamed. Because we didn’t have any prior knowledge of Mozambique, we relied entirely upon our Garmin GPS to get us where we needed to go.

We have faith that God sees us from His throne in heaven and is guiding us like our GPS. In Psalms 32:8 He says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” He also says to us, “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left” (Isa. 30:21).
