In today’s world, convenience is king. From groceries to gadgets, we can order anything and have it delivered within hours. Japan has mastered this concept, boasting the most vending machines per capita — one for every 23 people. These machines dispense everything from hot meals to fresh flowers, reflecting the nation’s deep love for accessibility and efficiency.
But while Japan excels in earthly convenience, there is a deeper, divine convenience available to everyone. In Psalm 139:7, David questions, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” Whether in the heights of heaven or the depths of the sea, God’s grace reaches every corner. Jonah experienced this truth in the belly of a fish when he cried out to God and was heard (Jonah 2:1-2).
However, God’s love isn’t transactional like a vending machine. His grace goes beyond meeting our requests to offering us a relationship. Isaiah 65:24 tells us that God knows our needs before we even ask, providing more than we could ever imagine. Unlike a machine that simply delivers a product, God desires to walk with us, guide us and draw us closer to Him.
As I prepare to serve the Japanese people, the message I wish to carry to them is: just as vending machines are everywhere in Japan, so too is God’s grace. Available at any time, in any place, He offers not only to meet our needs but to bring us into a life-changing relationship with Him — a grace that surpasses any earthly convenience.
In the same way that vending machines are always ready to meet daily needs, your assistance can help meet spiritual needs in Japan. By joining me with monthly support, you will be part of bringing God’s ever-present grace to those who need it most. Will you partner with me in this mission?
