He Is Coming!

“Dad, they will all accept Jesus and go to heaven,” my three-year-old son, Riquinho, said as I was talking with him about Jesus’ second coming and that we would go to heaven when He returned. I used this discussion to explain that we are here in Thailand to talk about God’s love for the people here, and if they accept and love Him, they would be able to go to heaven, too.

Then he asked me, “And if they don’t accept God?”

I explained to Riquinho that they would not go to heaven. My son was worried for a moment, with a sad face, almost crying. He was thinking about our neighbors and all the Thai people he knows already.

After a while, he looked at me with a smile on his face and said: “Dad, they will all accept Jesus and go to heaven.” Then he turned around and ran outside the house to keep playing.

That made me think for a while. The honesty and sincerity of a child always amaze me. Riquinho made his assertions with all his heart and mind. Even though I know that not everyone will accept Jesus and be saved, his words echoed in my head while I remembered Jesus saying in the Bible that we should be more like children.

I pondered his statements and his attitude for the next few days, concluding that my son had greater faith than I did.

Riquinho had stormed out of the house that day with a determination to talk to everyone he could about God’s love and show them how amazing He is and that it would be impossible for someone to reject that. He talked about this for the next several days, his eyes shining every single time he brought it up.

“Father, heaven must be amazing! I can’t wait to go there! And I think my friends will love it there as well!”

Sometimes we get so worried about things in life, or we get trapped in work, and we can get discouraged or even lose focus. But the way my son reacted and talked about sharing God with everyone made me realize that I need to be more like him. I need to pray more, surrender more and talk about Jesus more. I need to make sure that people around me will be able to know God’s love. And I need to pray non-stop for the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts. Then they will be able to choose who they want to serve.

I ask you to join me in prayers for every single Thai person who has yet to hear about God so that when they receive the opportunity to know Him, they can make the right decision.
