I Want to be an Adventist

“I want to be an Adventist for the rest of my life,” said our language helper George as we walked together one morning.

We met George this April. He was an answer to our prayers. Our language learning had been slow. George, who operates a small business selling shoes, had the skill set we needed in a language helper and the time to help us. When Fernand Bonnet, one of the local evangelists on the Malinke project, first met George and learned that he was originally from Ghana, could speak English and was a Christian, their friendship grew. They studied the Bible together, and George accepted the seventh-day Sabbath
One of the challenges George and I had in meeting for language classes was that he is from Bamako, and we live in Kangaba, about two to three hours away. Neither of us had private transportation, although our family had plans to get a small motorcycle in May. Then God seemed to impress me that getting two used motorcycles instead of one new one would be better so we could let George drive one to Kangaba to teach us.

George liked the plan. The motorcycles have been a blessing, saving us a lot of time. George has been staying with Fernand in Bankoumana, 35 km (22 miles) away, while he has been teaching us. He plans for his wife and children to move to Bankoumana with him when his children finish their school semester.

We are thankful for God bringing George into our life. Since he started helping us, we have made better progress in language learning. Please pray for George as he continues his studies with Fernand in preparation for baptism, and please pray that we can make rapid progress with our language learning.
