Incarnational Ministry in Ireland

What an exciting phone call with the Dysert family. For the first time we were able to talk to talk by phone about the Lord’s mighty work in their ministry in Ireland over the past decade. It was an informative conversation as I learned how our view of church, Protestantism, the Bible and freedom are not the same view they have in Ireland. It was also inspirational and very encouraging to hear how they started a church and how they meet and minister to people at their center of influence shop.

I was reminded of a conversation I had with another pastoral missionary couple who worked in Ireland for six years. The common theme was that we cannot expect to conduct ministry as we do in America, by inviting people to church, evangelistic meetings, Bible studies, passing out literature, and those types of activities. Rather, we are called to an incarnational ministry. We must learn from Jesus, who was born into this world, lived with people, spent time with them, cared for their needs and later invited them to follow Him.
Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare to begin a new life in Ireland—to be reborn into that society, to live there, to discover people’s deepest heart needs and to care for them so we can invite them to follow Jesus.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
