Inspired Misunderstandings

Summer seasons are often full of warmth for the outward body, but this summer season also brought an inward glow to our hearts as we marveled at how God orchestrates and guides our steps. We have had great opportunities, sharing our call to Greenland with five congregations in Kenya.

While driving through a tunnel, we received a phone call from a pastor friend who extended an invitation to speak at a school. We were quite willing to adjust our plans, even though that would mean modifying our schedule. At the end of the conversation, he thanked us for accepting. Little did we know that we had misunderstood the timing of the event.

As we arrived at the school, we encountered a team heading for lunch. “You are here a week early?” they asked. Looking at each other, Beryl and I realized the problem. We had been driving through a tunnel when our friend called us. He now ushered us into lunch, during which we engaged in a heartwarming conversation about missions, prompting the Head Teacher to ask for a complete change of their program to accommodate us. We ended up sharing our testimony and singing with about four hundred students. At the end, nearly 100 students responded to the call to pray for and become missionaries.

What an amazing time we had with these students. The school plans to start a Mission Training Center to help equip these young people for service to the Lord. The summer of God’s light is shining, and many more want to spread it. Would you join us in praying that with this initiative, many who have not heard will hear as these young people go to places where the name of Jesus is not yet known? Would you continue praying for us as we journey towards our call to the coolest place on the planet?
