Introducing the Church Family

One evening, it hit me. I was sitting on the couch, appreciating my family and pondering God’s amazing love expressed in Jesus. I have been looking forward to being a nurse and providing well for my family. I anticipated going to work, coming home to be with my loved ones, and living a “nice” life.

As I sat there, I also sensed the rapid passing of time. Too soon, I would find myself at the end of my life. A sense of dissatisfaction overcame me as I considered the countless people in the world who don’t have even a fraction of the material blessings I have, and especially the spiritual blessings. I live where I have been immersed in the Good News of salvation in Jesus for most of my life. I have freedom to attend church and fellowship with other Christians, and I enjoy the peace only God can give through the truth revealed in His Word.

What hit me so hard at that moment was the fact that there were so many people who not only weren’t experiencing peace but didn’t have a clue where to begin looking for it. I want to share my blessings with them. “Jesus, help us to help people like them,” was and is my prayer.

I expressed my thoughts to my wife, and she instantly shared my yearning to bring the Bread of Life to people who don’t have it. We prayed that God would begin opening doors.

Kristin and I were very familiar with AFM, and we decided to explore service with them, praying that God would lead us according to His plan. I am looking forward to finishing nursing school so I can use my skills to serve unreached people.

After much prayer and counsel with AFM, God has led us to work among the Great River People of Cambodia, a people with many physical needs and even deeper spiritual needs. As a Muslim people group, they are never sure about their salvation, whether their good works outweigh their bad deeds. They need to know the truth that nothing they can ever do will recommend them to God, other than accepting the beautiful gift of Jesus’ sacrifice for them. We are eager to build our support team so we can bring the Good News to them in person! Please pray that God will help me learn all I need to finish nursing school so we can begin ministering to the Great River people in His perfect timing.
