nations . . .” That is what Jesus told the disciples to do. However, you know this calling was not only for them, right? When Jesus gave His command to go and make disciples, He meant that everybody, including me and you, should fill the earth with His good news.
Imagine if the disciples didn’t accept this calling. We probably would not be Christians. Knowing this, why does Christ’s church so often neglect His command? Ellen G. White says: “Had Adventists, after the great disappointment in 1844, held fast their faith, and followed on unitedly in the opening providence of God, receiving the message of the third angel and in the power of the Holy Spirit proclaiming it to the world, they would have seen the salvation of God, the Lord would have wrought mightily with their efforts, the work would have been completed, and Christ would have come ere this to receive His people to their reward” (1 Selected Messages, page 68.1).
Jesus could do this work alone. He could even summon His angels to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth. Yet He called us, human beings full of weaknesses and sin, to share the truth of salvation with all nations. Apart from proclaiming the gospel to reach the unreached, through this work, our Savior develops our characters, making them similar to His, preparing us for His second coming.
On the other side of the world, nations without access to the gospel contain people thirsty to hear the good news of salvation. It’s our duty to go to them and share about a God who died for their sins, saving them. Paul wrote in Romans 10: “For ‘Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?”
What is your answer to His calling? Are you willing to go and make disciples of all nations? We invite you to come with us and join our monthly support team to reach the nation of Georgia.
