“Can you look at my foot?” Ismael asked. Philip’s stomach lurched as he examined the gaping two-inch hole full of oozing puss with the bone clearly visible. Ismael had been bitten by a snake a few months before. The doctor had told him his foot would need to be amputated, but he had refused. Now it was full of infection and looked very bad. Philip cleaned and packed the wound and gave it continuing care for several weeks, praying with Ismael in the name of Jesus.
At one point, Ismael had to go to the hospital for a few days. When Philip went to pick him up, Ismael’s eyes were glowing. “Jesus came and examined my foot last night!” he said with a huge grin.
“He did what?” Philip asked, not sure he had heard right.
“Jesus came to me,” Ismael repeated.
“What did He look like?”
“His face was beautiful, and He was dressed in white.”
“What did He say to you?”
“He said my foot would get better, and I should study the book you gave me,” Ismael beamed.
Philip had given Ismael a New Testament in the trade language. Now Ismael was excited to have his daughter read it to him.
Philip eventually got an audio New Testament for Ismael, and Ismael eagerly devoured it.
God is already working in the hearts of the Great River people. Please pray with us for these precious souls. And pray for us that we will be ready when God orchestrates more divine appointments.
