Light and Water

My husband and I visited Ireland over Thanksgiving and spent time in Waterford where we will be serving. We had an opportunity to see for ourselves the great need there. Hearing firsthand from the people about the high suicide rate and widespread depression was a clear reminder to us of why Jesus is calling us to this beautiful, cloudy isle. I have a cousin who moved to Ireland to work, but the weather and lack of sunshine is affecting her, and she doesn’t feel that she can live there anymore. We pray that the Light of the World will shine out from us in a message of hope and healing for broken Irish hearts.

As we walked down the streets and saw the kegs of beer outside the pubs, we were reminded about the central role alcohol plays in Irish culture. It is the anesthesia that helps so many cope with hopelessness and brokenness.

Jesus is the Living Water. When we drink of Him, we will never thirst again. Please pray for the missionaries in Ireland and the work that the Holy Spirit is doing there in people’s hearts, drawing them toward their Savior. Please pray for people to partner with us in this mission and help us reach our monthly goal. We are eager to go!
